Yale Regulation College Accepted A $105,000 Donation For Justice Thomas’s Portrait. 5 Years Later, It Is Nowhere To Be Seen

Washington Free Beacon, Yale Regulation College Accepted a Donation for Clarence Thomas’s Portrait. 5 Years Later, the Portray Is Nowhere To Be Seen.:

Yale Law Logo (2020)Within the spring of 2018, Yale Regulation College dean Heather Gerken fortunately acknowledged the receipt of a donation from the Texas billionaire Harlan Crow to fund the fee of a portrait of Crow’s buddy, Supreme Courtroom justice Clarence Thomas. …

“We’re so happy to welcome the justice to our excellent gallery of portraits,” Gerken wrote. “They may all the time have a spot of prominence at Yale Regulation College.” 5 years later, college students and college members say they’ve by no means seen it, and positively not displayed in a spot of prominence.

The portrait exists. Yale commissioned the New York Metropolis-based artist Jacob Collins to color it, and Collins informed the Washington Free Beacon that, based on his data, the portrait was being framed in March 2019 and that he believes it was delivered to the college shortly thereafter. Yale acknowledged his present with a letter of thanks.

Neither Gerken nor a spokesman for the regulation college responded to requests for remark concerning the portrait’s whereabouts. …

All portraits, except for these of former deans, have to be commissioned with outdoors funding, and Crow in 2018 offered the $105,000 to fund Thomas’s portrait after Yale Regulation College professor George Priest labored to restore Thomas’s relationship with the college and helped to influence the justice to take a seat for the portrait’s portray.
